The next bicycle rodeo will be in Spring 2011. Please check back for
dates and times.
On Saturday, June 12 APAL hosted a bicycle rodeo
at Cornell School. This free event included bicycle safety inspections done by Charlie from Solano Cyclery and a
confidence course organized by Albany Strollers and Rollers. Free helmet were given to all youth participants. Highlighting
the day was the two shows given by 2Hip the Professional Stunt Riding Team.
The Goal
of a Bicycle Rodeo is to encourage riders to wear helmets on every ride, to give young cyclists basic skills for on-road riding,
and to teach them the rules of the road to help keep them safe. The focus of this rodeo is on
young riders in elementary and middle school.
The bicycle rodeo is presented as a partnership between
the Albany Police Department, the Albany Police Activities League, the Albany Strollers and Rollers, and Solano Cyclery
